Dear loyal returning and new Camp Kee-wanee families,

It is with deep consideration of Governor Baker’s pandemic plan, the CDC, and state and local Boards of Health guidelines that we are writing to you today with our decision for Summer 2020. While we agree with the restrictions coming out from the CDC, we do not feel like it is possible to adhere to them in our setting in a way which keeps our campers and staff safe while preserving our mission and the integrity of our programming of Camp Kee-wanee.  With the support of our Board of Directors we have made the tough decision to not open Camp Kee-wanee for Summer 2020.

Ron and I have always prided ourselves on building a camp program that we would want our own children to attend.  Without having a coronavirus vaccine available coupled with the additional new sickness that is targeting children, we know that this is the right decision for our campers and our staff.

While our families know we are much more than a day care and our camp program plays an integral part in healthy socialization and the building of self-esteem for children each summer, we know that many of you do need summer childcare.   We are happy support your need for childcare through referring a few of our willing staff to you.  We have surveyed our staff and those who are willing to continue to social distance and provide nanny/babysitting to you are included in this email. Please feel free to contact them if you are considering in home childcare.   Please note that all of these staff have either worked for us or were strong candidates for employment this summer. If they are 18 or over, they have been CORI and SORI checked by camp. Your contract and compensation with them will be up to you and your candidate to decide.

This camp complies with the regulations 105 CMR: DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC HEALTH 8/15/03 105 CMR – 1715 105 CMR 430.000: MINIMUM STANDARDS FOR RECREATIONAL CAMPS FOR CHILDREN(STATE SANITARY CODE, CHAPTER IV) and is licensed by the Greenfield Board of Health.  Click the link for regulations
